Dear friends,

As my tenure as Vice-President comes to a close after three terms of service, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity to serve this organization and its noble mission.

It has been a privilege and an enriching experience to work with such dedicated colleagues in advancing our Theosophical mission. I am especially grateful for the President’s inspiring leadership and for the opportunity to work under his guidance during these years.

I feel privileged to have contributed, in whatever small way, to the work of advancing our inner transformation and supporting selfless service to humanity, animal and plant kingdom. Though my formal role concludes, my commitment to the principles and mission of the Society continues.

With warm regards, gratitude and best wishes,

Deepa Padhi, Odisha - India

A unique photo indeed. Deepa herself describes it as follows: "I was felicitating Tim with an 'Uttariya'(as it is known in india). This is the way Indians felicitate leaders and guests. This photo was taken in 2013 when I had been to Wheaton for a presentation during the Summer convention. I met Tim there for the very first time"

Nine years ago when I first asked Deepa to serve as Vice-president, she was reluctant. For reasons only known to her she felt somehow inadequate for the position. It took a lot of convincing to get her to accept.

Having met her some years prior while I was serving as president of the TS in America, I knew the scope of her service work in the Theosophical Order of Service and of her vision for Theosophy as an applied practice, not merely a subject for study.

Visiting with her in her Odisha home the breadth of her work, and her ability to mobilize others to participate in it impressed me deeply. Every three years when it was time to renew her term in office I had to work through the same reluctance, until her third term when I promised that I would not impose on her again.

The Theosophical Society worldwide has been fortunate to have had her in a position where the example of a life of service and high thought could be modeled and seen.
