Joma, the artist
Following the series of projects I started doing with the Christ Energy and Light, I share the sixth and seventh artworks that I have made this year.
One work is called SAL IN CHRISTUS LACRYMA (Salt in a Christ Tear), dimensions: 8x14cm, frame: 25x29cm, all made with gold-based ink pens and crystals.
Inspired by John 11:32-36:
As soon as Mary came to where Jesus was and saw him, she fell down at his feet and told him, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother wouldn’t have died.” When Jesus saw her crying, and the Jews who had come with her crying, he was greatly troubled in spirit and deeply moved. He asked, “Where have you put him?” They told him, “Lord, come and see.” Jesus shed tears. So the Jews said, See how much he loved him!
The other work is called SAL IN STILLA CHRISTUS SUDORIS (Salt in a Drop of Christ´s Sweat) dimensions: 11x17cm, frame: 25x29cm, all made with gold-based ink pens and crystals.
Inspired by Luke 22:39-44:
Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and his disciples followed him. On reaching the place, he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.” He withdrew about a stone’s throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him. And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.
I have my artwork Archangel Michael (Illuminated Version, made using computer effects of color and light, under the photo of the original version, painting on black canvas, with gold-based ink pens and crystals, 120 × 80 cm, 2015” chosen to be part of the Summer 2025 number of the magazine Quest, Journal of the Theosophical Society in America.
On the back of the cover there is a small text, which I would like to share, where I explain my work:
Joma Sipe was born in Porto, Portugal, in 1974. He currently lives in Vila Nova de Gaia, where he has his own studio. Joma explains his work this way: “In the intricate and elaborate process of each work, there is the objective of transmitting a message, although often the underlying message is not immediately perceptible. In each work, there is the dispersion and concentration of Light that emanates from each line in the painting. It is the Being and our deepest Essence, the deep core of the Energy of Life that inhabits everything that exists. The Energy seeks to overcome the barrier of the physical dimension to merge with the Universal Energy, which condenses, materializes, and takes shape in each canvas. The Being awakens from a veiled sleep and transmits messages condensed in lines, circles, and geometric shapes, which intertwine and take shape against the black background. “It is Pure Light, coming from the Spheres of Divinity. Everything is Energy, which propagates through the lines in the images and in the crystals. In addition to the sensory view, there is another, veiled one, which is revealed to those who have awakened.” Joma’s book Soul of Light: Works of Illumination was published by Quest Books in 2012.
